Frequently asked questions.

Got questions about working with me? That’s great, because I’ve got answers.

How does a ceremony actually ‘work’?

Good question, because couples ask me that all the time. That’s why I share my free Step-by-Step Ceremony Guide: so you get the full picture of what needs to happen, when, and who needs to do it. It’s all about feeling confident and comfortable so you can get on with enjoying your day.

What do you do?

As a registered marriage celebrant, I’m authorised to legally marry you and make it all official. But I also take care of all the details of your ceremony and give you support and inspiration, then make it run smoothly on the day. My job is to make your ceremony feel like effortless magic so you can just enjoy it.

Where do you perform ceremonies?

I am based in Ballina and I cover from the Gold Coast to Yamba and everywhere in between. However, I love an adventure and am willing to travel anywhere in Australia to help you say ‘I Do’! Travel fees apply for locations 100km + from Ballina.

Do we just rock up on the day and you marry us?

Well yes, but you need to plan and organise the ceremony and some legal stuff that needs to happen first. We’ll lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage at least one calendar month before your ceremony, and I need to see your ID to confirm your identities. Oh, and it’s worth mentioning here that legally you need to be over 18 or have a court order allowing you to marry if you’re 16–18 years old.

How do we book you?

It all starts with a chat – easy, right?

Once we’ve had a chat I’ll send you a quote in my booking system and to lock it in you will need to accept the quote, sign the contract and pay the nonrefundable $300 booking fee. Your date is only locked in once all of this has been done.

I want to elope / renew my vow / a no-frills wedding... can you help?

Absolutely! Check out my wedding packages here

Rach, I’d like to find out more about you before I chat with you about my ceremony… Who are you?

Fair enough, I’d do the same! Click here to get to know me a bit better. I even include my vows to you as your celebrant, and some juicy random stuff (people always love that bit!).

Rach, I have no idea how to choose music, furniture, flowers and props for my ceremony. Can you help?

Why yes, I can. I have a list of Rockstar Vendors that I share with you once you’re locked in. These are my go to people who I love working with and I know you can rely on!

I’m worried about Uncle Barry’s stage fright and bad jokes ruining my reception (#awkward). Rach, will you be my MC?

Oh gosh, I’d love to make people laugh, cry and cheer at all the right times at your reception! Click here to find out more.

How much do you charge?

Find out on my Wedding Packages and Other Services pages.

What do you wear at my ceremony?

We’ll talk about your dress code, colours, theme and style. From there, you have a couple of choices:

  1. Leave it to me to choose (I have a whole wardrobe of celebrant attire that does not include stuffy suits or name badges)

  2. Choose an outfit from photos of me modelling said professional wardrobe

  3. We can discuss your dress code and colours, then I’ll give you some suggestions on the perfect outfit to work in with you

How does working with you, well, work?

Easy peasy:

  1. Let’s chat

  2. Let’s make it formal

  3. Let’s plan your ceremony

  4. Let’s do this!

  5. Let’s make it official

Find out what happens, step-by-step, here.

How do we write our vows?

I’ve got you covered because you’ll get my ‘How to Write Your Vows Step-by-Step’ guide and I’ll be there to help (as well as giving you cards to read your vows from during the ceremony – awesome, right!?).

I’m terrified of public speaking. Help me, Rach!

OK first up, I’ll give you tips on how to use the mic before your ceremony so you feel confident. I’ll also give you cards with your vows on them so you know what to say, when. And we’ll get started with my Step-by-Step Ceremony Guide, so you know exactly what’s going to happen, when. I’m there to reassure you, guide you, and get you smiling and laughing along the way.

We’re SO ready. Can we get married, like, tomorrow?

That’s so awesome and I wish I could say yes. But Australian laws say no because I need to sight and confirm your ID and register your Notice of Intended Marriage at least one calendar month before your ceremony. So you can get married in a month. Trust me, it’ll go fast and be here before you know it!

Can you help us find musicians, florists, caterers and prop suppliers for our ceremony?

Yep! I have a list of Rockstar wedding vendors I trust that I’ll happily share with you.

Still have questions?

Or maybe you’re ready to take our relationship to the next level (don’t worry, there’s no pressure because it all starts with a chat).
